Several points that need to be paid attention to in the inspection of the reducer



1. The gear box body is a common gear box body. Changing the casting structure to a welded structure is the trend of box structure design. The welding structure can reduce the manufacturing cost of the gear box and the structure is compact. In addition, it is necessary for the heavy-duty gear box. Pay attention to the inspection of its welds.

3. The bearing temperature rise inspection can be measured by hand feel or by a simple temperature measuring pen. Generally, it is judged that the lubricating oil temperature rise should not exceed 35 degrees, and the bearing temperature rise should not exceed 40 degrees. If it is abnormal, it should be shut down for maintenance. 



4. Bearing vibration inspection requires measurement at the bearing seat, which can be measured with a simple vibrating pen. Generally, the vibration speed is measured: axial, vertical, and horizontal.Some important reducers have on-line temperature and vibration detection devices. One is to record the value of each spot inspection, and the other is to compare data, including historical data and comparison of similar unit data, and timely feedback of fluctuations and abnormalities.


Class I — Small machinery (motors below 15KW) 

Class Ⅱ—Medium-sized machinery (15-75KW motors and machines below 300KW) Class Ⅲ—Large-scale machinery (installed on a rigid foundation) Class Ⅳ—large-scale machinery (installed on a relatively flexible foundation)



5. The inspection of lubricating oil level generally includes oil dipstick, transparent window oil dipstick, etc.The notch on the oil dipstick indicates the range of lubricating oil. When checking the oil level, clean the dust and oil stains on the outside to prevent the lubricating oil from contaminating the oil; the oil level range is also marked on the transparent window oil level, which can be used at rest and Check the operating status, pay attention to the transparent window type oil mark is easy to blur, need to be cleaned or replaced in time.


6. If the lubricating oil appears white, black, turbid, etc., the oil should be replaced in time.For important and large reducers, physical and chemical properties and pollution levels can also be tested as required.


7. Inspection of forced circulation cooling device.Generally check the output pressure of the lubrication pump station, the total flow rate and the flow rate of each lubrication point. At the same time, it is required to balance the oil supply of each lubrication point of the reducer, which can be adjusted through a valve.


8. The use of vent plugs, vent hoods and air filters can prevent the pressure in the reducer case from rising and prevent external dust from entering the case. It is required to clean up the dirt and replace the air filter regularly.


9. Regularly open the inspection hole of the reducer to directly observe the gear meshing, such as tooth surface wear, pitting, scratches, gluing, etc., and the cover of the inspection hole is usually fixed on the box cover with screws.


10. In regular disassembly inspections, important gears are required to be inspected by magnetic powder or stained flaw detection methods, and all parts must be inspected at the same time.


11. When the reducer has large noise and vibration during operation, it is recommended to check:

  • Bearing clearance

  • Gear wear and meshing status; 

  • Wear condition of bearing seat hole;

  • Alignment of input and output axis;

  • Whether the anchor bolts are loose.


12. When the reducer leaks, check:

  • Check the state of the seal and bearing end cover;

  • Check the wear of the shaft at the seal;

  • Check whether the oil level is too high;

  • Check the split surface and the tightening of the bearing end cover bolts.


13. When the temperature rise of the lubricating oil and bearing of the reducer is abnormal, check:

  • Lubricating oil status, including viscosity, oil supply, etc.;

  • Bearing clearance.
